Africa Day rocks !
Year 7 enjoyed an excellent Africa Day on 25th February, planned and led by our International Leader students. Students were able to experience the sounds, sights, tastes and excitement of Africa through the following activities:
" African Dance led by Emmy & Tatenda
" Growing up in South Africa talk, including food tasting, led by Miss Govender and Matthew Trent
" Mini World Cup African Nations tournament led by Mr Singh
" Nelson Mandela life story and art led by Miss Murray
" Stevenage / Kadoma (Zimbabwe) link led by members of the Link Association
" Ghana presentation and quiz with Ghanaian chocolate prizes, led by Boresa and Simone
The afternoon session featured:
" Love Train play featuring Miss Linsell and Mr Atimomo
" Karaoke of Love Train (OJs) and Rain in Africa (Toto) led by Mr Singh, with dancing by Chris & Luke - music organised by Mr Bilsby
" Food tasting, including Milo protein drink, pomegranates, black-eyed peas & rice, maize & plantain provided by our excellent Catering team
The African musical instruments purchased with the money raised from last year's Africa Day provided further entertainment during the afternoon session. Money raised through this year's voluntary donations will be used by the Art Department to enable us to celebrate African culture using authentic materials.
Many thanks to everyone involved, our students were a credit to themselves and we are especially proud of our International Leaders, whose hard work and enthusiasm made the day run smoothly and enjoyably for everyone.
